Golf Alignment Sticks

This month’s video golf tip continues with the theme of “Practice With a Purpose.” Many golfers struggle with alignment issues, but there is a solution: Golf Alignment Sticks. This simple training aid helps you understand what it feels like to hit the ball straight. So do yourself a favor and buy some alignment sticks soon, but first, watch How Alignment Sticks Make You a Better Golfer.

There are a ton of ways to use an alignment stick besides alignment. But I have never seen a PGA or LPGA player practice without an alignment stick!

Watch along as I talk about the keys to alignment, Body line, and Target line and teaching yourself how to aim.

Target Line

The target line is a line drawn from the ball to the target. Place an alignment stick behind the ball aiming right at your target.

Body Line

Now place another alignment stick about 2 feet away from the first stick and parallel to it. This is your body line. This is the line that would aim at the hips, feet, and shoulders.

Ball Position

Now move the alignment stick representing the target line and place that at 90 degrees to the body line and bout 2″ inside your lead heel. (assuming you are hitting an iron)

Look at Your Target

The very last thing you want to do is look at the target. You know you are aimed correctly, so you need to teach your body what it “feels like” to aim correctly, so when you’re on the course and can not use an alignment stick, you can do it automatically!
