Monthly Golf Tips by the Mel Sole Golf School.
In this month's Mel In Motion video golf tip, I let you in on two easy ways to get lined up correctly on the course. First, poor alignment is the most common cause of swing flaws. Get this right, and a lot of your swing problems will disappear.
Have a look and learn how to increase your accuracy results on the course. Never practice on the range without alignment sticks. Could you keep them in your golf bag year-round? That way, you always have them available.
Alignment Method #1.
Stand behind your ball and focus your eyes on the target.
Walk towards the ball, still keeping your eyes on the target.
Look down just long enough to place the club behind the ball…
…and immediately look back at your target before you start moving your body.
While still looking at the target, place your feet in their proper position. You will align perfectly with your target.
Alignment Method #2.
Stand behind your ball and draw an imaginary line from your ball to the target. Remember, the target is not necessarily the flag. For example, you might be playing t the left or right side of either the fairway or green.
Pick a spot about 2 or 3 feet in front of the ball that is on that line. It can be a leaf, a small stone or a blemish in the grass.
Walk around and aim your clubface at the spot.
Set the rest of your body up parallel to that imaginary line.
Try these two methods on the range first to find out which method suits you the best. Then, use it on the course, and your setup will be flawless every time!
