Monthly Golf Tips by the Mel Sole Golf School.

Follow along with me a learn that you are completely wasting your time!

When practicing your golf game, you need to quantify your practice to know whether you are really improving or not. But, if you don't, how do you know that your skills are improving? In this month's video golf tip, I demonstrate some practice insights that provide positive feedback.  Measuring your improvement and challenging yourself will make practice much more fun and productive!

The Starting Point.

Let's say you want to work on your chipping.  Count out 20 balls, pick a target, and chip the 20 balls to the hole.  Decide before you start how big or small your target is going to be.  Let's say a 10-foot circle.

After chipping all 20 balls, count how many are in the circle.  That is your starting point. Write the results in a booklet and keep them in your golf bag.

You can do the same thing with Bunker shots, pitching, long putts, and full shots.  Get started!

Improving.

The next time you go to work on your chipping, pull out your booklet, and see the results from the last session.  You now have to improve on that past result by at least one!  That way, you know for sure you are a better chipper today than you were the last time you practiced. So continue that program each time you go out to practice.  Start Quantifying Your Practice! That's the only way you are going to improve!

Make Practice more difficult than your play.  That was a statement by the great Sir Donald Bradman, England Cricket Legend.  They have stuck in my head ever since he spoke that phrase.
