What's the best way to handle a short shot over a bunker? Hint: It's not a pitch, and it's not a chip. It's a lob! In this video golf tip, Mel Sole discusses the key points of a good lob shot. Practice this at home, and you'll improve your short game!

Quite Lower Body.

This is one of the few shots in golf where the lower body is very still.  Widen your stance quite a lot.  This will help prevent a weight shift, and the club will slide easily under the ball.

Let the Clubhead Pass the Hands.

Zero body rotation allows the clubhead to pass the hands.  As a result, it adds loft to the clubface, giving a nice high shot.  The clubhead must pass the hands before impact.  Keeping a steady head is also an asset, as it prevents you from blading the ball across the green!

Every Shot is a Correction on the Previous Shot.

This shot requires quite a lot of practice to get the feel.   If you hit the shot too hard, hit the next one softer.  If you hit the shot too soft, hit the next one harder.  By doing this hard/soft method, you will eventually feel exactly how hard to hit.  Then carry this information to the golf course.  Now that you know the Secrets of the Golf Lob Shot, you will be a short game wizard!
