Making Golf Practice Fun for the Kids - The Obstacle Course!

This month I focus on Kids Golf and how to get them more involved in practicing their short game without even realizing that they are practicing! When you are Making Golf Practice Fun for Kids, you teach them golf skills and life skills! Persistence when things are going wrong, the determination not to give up, and the pride of getting it in the end. These are all part of growing up with a great attitude that will pay dividends in their adult years.
The Obstacle Course.
Set up an obstacle course similar to the one I am demonstrating here. Go to a Walmart or Target and buy some paper or plastic colored plates and matching cups. Put them at various stations that make the shot similar to what they would find during a regular golf round. If possible, make the course with 9 stations. By doing the stations twice, they can have an 18 hole score. Each child gets a scorecard and pencil and learns to keep the score at each station. The golf is to improve the second time around! Prizes can be given out for best 1st nine, best 2nd 9, and overall score. No player can win more than 1 prize!
By putting numbers on the plates, the kids can start at any station, and if they are starting on station #3, they will write down their score on their scorecard on hole #3.
