Golf Video Blog by the Mel Sole Golf School.

In our ongoing Golf Video Blog series,  Mel Sole of the Mel Sole Golf School talks about the disassociation between the upper and lower body in the transition of the backswing to the downswing.  This move prevents the golfer from starting the downswing with the arms, an all too common mistake!

The best way to get the feel of this move is to exaggerate.  Place a golf club across your chest, and as you start the backswing with the shoulders, initiate the hips in the other direction.  In other words, the backswing is still going up as the hips are starting down.  At first, this move will feel really weird because your body has never felt anything like this before.  At that point, start hitting balls while continuing to exaggerate the downswing movement.  You will be surprised how much power you can generate on the downswing.  The ball will literally explode off the clubface.
